Atkins Diet for the planet

Disciples of the Atkins Diet tell us that carbohydrates are  bad and should be avoided. Whereas, they claim, cream, butter, cheese, eggs, red meat and other high fat foods are fine. They hold this belief,  in spite of the overwhelming research data indicating that consumption of  these foods that are  high in  saturated fat  is closely associated with an increased occurrence of a variety of cardiovascular maladies and several types of cancer.

Man-caused global warming theory disciples have vilified “carbon”‘.  Now,  blinded by their self righteous zeal, they  support burning wood to generate electricity, a practice they have decided is “carbon neutral”.  Like those who blindly follow the teachings of  the late Dr. Atkins, the man-caused global warming lemmings are following the teachings of Al Gore, and in their anti-carbon frenzy, will have us breathing soot, wood ash and smoke, and living upon  a tree-less landscape.  But we should take solace in knowing that by burning wood to generate electricity, our carbon footprint will shrink from a shameful size 11  to an ecologically responsible size 10-1/2.

Support African American enterprises

I think the movement among certain African Americans to attempt to spend their money at African American operated companies , whenever possible,  is commendable. In fact, doing as much business as possible with people of one’s own ethnic group is an American tradition and doing so is a characteristic of most our country’s successful immigrant groups, especially among their first few generations in the U.S..  I say, more power to the Andersons, and others who follow suit.

Let’s try the truth for a change

The idea that environmentalists should tell the truth rather than continuing to hype “global warming” is a good one. I am an outdoors-man, I love the environment, and want to protect it. Just don’t try to manipulate me with talk of man-caused global warming, which, as records from recent years indicate, warming may or may not be occurring. And these changes in global temperature, if they are real, may or may not have anything to do with human activity. Let’s emphasize what we know. The introduction of particulates and toxic substances into the atmosphere is bad. Let’s minimize it. The introduction of toxic substances to our lakes, rivers and oceans is bad. Let’s minimize it. Don’t let your admiration for Al Gore, your hatred of George W. Bush, your distaste for economic growth, your sense that the world’s resources are unfairly distributed, your dislike of oil and coal, etc… turn you into a bobble head doll, a Stepford Wife, or any other variety of well intentioned useful idiot, ready to be  manipulated by those who stand to profit from the proliferation of the idea that man-caused global warming is an indisputable fact and settled science. It is not.

May a Supreme Court Justice hate America?

So, President Obama wants to choose an empathetic Supreme Court Justice. And many of his supporters on the Left want him to make a “bold” selection. Perhaps he can decide, in the name of diversity, to appoint a person who believes that the U.S. constitution is an illegitimate document,  that the U.S. is an illegitimate country and that capitalism needs to be completely dismantled. I think Noam Chomsky, although he is quite old, is probably available. The sweet irony of appointing an  antisemitic, anti-Israel, Jew should not be underestimated. And selecting Hezbolah’s and Hamas’ fair haired boy Chomsky, might enable Obama to win back some points on the ”Arab Street” that he lost when he appointed Rahm Emanuel to be his Chief of Staff. Chomsky…..an efficient pick, indeed.

Stale arguments, stale activists

I agree with President Obama that rehashing stale arguments is counterproductive. But what do you do when all you’ve got are stale arguments? Consider  Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton as cases in point.

Minnesota

They elected Jesse Ventura to be their governor. They elected Al Franken to be their senator. They allow Islamic taxi drivers to reject passengers who the drivers suspect might be carrying alcohol. Are Minnesotans vying to win the weird award? Please help me understand.

Bo, bow, etc…

 In this photo,we see the president and the family’s new dog “Bo”‘.  The president appears to be in approximately the same position as he was when he met the Saudi king. Maybe he wasn’t bowing when he met the king. Maybe he was patting the diminutive Abdullah’s head.

From disqualifier to prerequisite

During the 1990s we heard from apologists of Bill Clinton that the same alpha male ego that leads a man to commit adultery, also endows a man with great leadership ability and the disposition to be a great president.  So, known adulterous behavior, they’d have us believe, should not be a dis-qualifier for presidential candidates. Rather, it ought to be a prerequisite.

Given the problems that many of Obama’s cabinet appointees have had when it comes to paying their income taxes, will we hear from these same Democrat apologists that the  “thriftiness” that leads a man or woman to fail to comply with his or her tax obligations, will lead the appointee to make thrifty decisions as a cabinet member? And will they say that when it comes to becoming a cabinet member, a history of tax cheating should not be a dis-qualifier, but rather, it should be a prerequisite?

Got Blue Eyes? Stay away from Brazil!

Brazil is plagued with a high crime rate. It is a somewhat popular tourist destination, but this poverty stricken South American country, replete with beautiful beaches, warm people, and a panoply of cultural attractions, will never achieve its potential as a mecca for vacationers until its streets are made safer for residents and visitors alike. So, you would think, especially in these tough economic times, that the Brazilian government would do everything in its power to nurture the tourism cash cow, and discourage crime, right? Wrong! 

Brazil’s President Luiz Inácion Lula da Silva has publicly blamed the world’s, and Brazil’s, economic crisis on white,  blue-eyed people. So  if you are a white man or woman with blue eyes and you find yourself the victim of a crime in Brazil, don’t condemn the perpetrator. He or she is just a Brazilian, carrying out official government policy.
